Preschool  Classroom Teacher for Students with Visual Impairment and Other Disabilities

Reports To:

Program Coordinator and Director of Educational Services

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide direct instruction in classroom setting in all areas of development.
  2. Provide education and support to the family
  3. Coordinate child’s program and school day with other service providers and family
  4. Prepare reports: FVA’s, IEP’s, developmental evaluations, progress reports, maintain data collection and student records
  5. Trains, supervises, and evaluates teaching assistants in the classroom
  6. Orders and maintains supplies and materials for the classroom
  7. Serves as liaison with other agencies and home school district to promote successful program results and transitions
  8. Evaluates community referrals

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelors Degree (Masters Degree preferred), from an accredited college or university in education of students with visual impairment or special education with certification in students with multiple impairments or early childhood development. Must be able to be certified in Arizona
  2. Knowledge of early childhood development for children with special needs including visual impairment; techniques and procedures of teaching; conducting and writing functional vision assessments; resources for families.
  3. Ability to adapt materials and equipment to meet students’  unique needs
  4. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with the families and other agencies
  5. Ability to work with a group of professionals and coordinate classroom schedules to best meet students’ needs
  6. Helpful to be bilingual

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience, FT = 35 hours, benefits available
