In the last seventy-two years, the Foundation for Blind Children has gone from serving four students in a family’s living room, to being an essential resource for over two thousand people across Arizona. Whenever possible, FBC has sought to do more, so we can help more people. There is always more work to be done, and FBC’s new five-year strategic plan is laser-focused on ensuring access to the resources, tools, and services to all Arizonans impacted by a visual impairment.

The Five-Year Strategic Plan

“In five years, every person with a visual impairment in Arizona has access to quality services and resources.”

This is FBC’s strategic statement. It serves as the organization’s guiding principle going forward. FBC has provided programs and services to thousands of individuals and families over the past seven decades, but there are thousands more in Arizona who do not have the resources they need. FBC is committed to ensuring those individuals can be identified and connected with the resources they need to thrive.

Identifying every person with a visual impairment in need of assistance will not be easy, but FBC is up for the challenge. Through FBC’s programs, services and future growth, as well as collaboration and partnership with other like-minded organizations across the state, FBC is committed to ensuring support is available to all who need it.

New Leadership, New Strategic Plan

Spearheading this initiative will be FBC’s new CEO, Jared Kittelson. When Jared Joined FBC seven years ago as Director of Education Services, he saw what was possible from FBC. He has worked to build FBC’s capacity, competency, and culture, and now he wants to make sure that everyone in Arizona can access the quality programs and services available to every FBC child, teen, adult and family.   “Quality services shouldn’t be dictated by your Arizona zip code.”

“FBC is about hope,” Jared says. “It’s about what’s possible.”

Jared believes that FBC can change the world of vision outreach and resources. He knows that everyone at FBC is up to the task. He’s incredibly optimistic about the future because of the passionate team members who are committed to the mission and the people we serve.
