New Horizons Senior Program

FBC’s New Horizons Senior Program is designed to provide visually impaired retirees with the tools and skills they need to live independently and confidently with vision loss. Through a variety of interactive, engaging training activities, participants learn new skills and techniques for performing daily tasks. Some things may need to be done differently, but with the right training, our clients can do just about anything they want to do.

New Horizons Participants will learn new cooking methods, cleaning, and managing a household. Our orientation and mobility instructors will teach them how to navigate their surroundings, so they can move through the world with confidence In addition to practical skills, New Horizons also focuses on building social connections and emotional support among participants, helping them to feel more connected and empowered in their daily lives.

Our goal in the New Horizons Senior Program is to provide skills training so that clients feel comfortable in their homes. Vision loss doesn’t mean people have to completely change their lives; it just means they have to learn how to adapt to continue doing what they love.
