Snakes! Why did it have to be snakes?!

Every month, FBC’s Sharp Program hosts Super Saturday, a fun day of activity, exploration, and excitement. This month, we invited some friends from the Phoenix Herpetological Society to join us.

Kids were able to get up close and personal with some rescued reptiles. Having the opportunity to touch these animals is important for visually impaired kids who need to learn through senses other than vision. It also helps get them out of their comfort zone, challenging them to explore things that may seem scary or unfamiliar.

Along with hanging out with our scaly guests, students practiced their adaptive cooking skills as they baked delicious red velvet cookies. We also got moving with some active games to get the heart pumping.

SHARP is all about building confidence and practicing independence while having fun. This Super Saturday definitely got our kids to try something new, which is always our goal at FBC.
