Support for Families Raising a Child with Vision Impairment
It can feel overwhelming to learn of a child’s visual impairment, but if there is one thing to know, it is that you are not alone. At the Foundation for Blind Children, we are here to support parents and families as they learn to navigate this new world. We provide support and education for caregivers, and we work to foster a community of families in similar circumstances. We believe there is incredible value in the community, so in addition to vision services, FBC provides this additional support to families to make sure nobody feels alone.
Read on to learn what you can expect from FBC’s Family Support and Education program.

Family Navigation Services
Not sure where to start? Our Family Navigator can connect you with resources, programs, and services, as well as offer emotional support.
We know that this might be a confusing time, but we will help guide you through getting all the resources that are available to you. There are a lot of programs to support children and their families such as the Arizona Early Intervention Program. We are happy to help you through the process of applying for and securing the education and support your child needs.

Parent to Parent Programs
We offer a wide range of activities for families and caregivers to learn, have fun, and connect with their community.
• We host developmental playgroups for families
• Field trips allow our families to explore new environments and experiences with their kiddos while having tons of fun along the way
• Parent meet-ups provide a fun way to build connections with others in similar circumstances
Educational Workshops
Want to learn more? Expert-led workshops for parents and caregivers on topics such as IEPs, transition, supporting independence, and more!
Our teachers and councilors put on helpful workshops to help families understand things like Individualized Education Plans (IEP)and Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC.) It is our goal to make sure our families understand their child’s education, so they can know how best to support their learning. We are always here to answer any questions and to help you and your child navigate through school, but our goal is to give you the knowledge and confidence you need to thrive.

Emotional Support
We’re here for you! We offer peer support activities, emotional support, and grief groups.
